The Scandinavian by John Emms pdf ( March 28, 1997) [реклама вместо картинки] Product Description In recent years, the Scandinavian Defense (1 c4 d5) has become increasingly popular both at club and grandmaster level. Indeed, it was even used by Viswanathan Anand in his World Championship match against Garry Kasparov! In this book for club and tournament players, Grandmaster John Emms explains the strategy and tactics of this dynamic and fashionable opening. Through the use of model games for both sides, the author provides a thorough grounding in the key ideas so players can quickly and confidently start to use the Scandinavian in their own games. http://rapidshare.com/files/29344159/John_Emms_-_The_Scandinavian.zip Das Schachspiel und seine historische Entwicklung by Ludwig Bachmann 179 pages, German language, DJVU, 21.2 MB http://rapidshare.com/files/36496749/bachmann.djvu Ajedrez Maestro Contra Amateur/ Chess Master Vs Chess Amateur (Spanish Edition) by Max Euwe and Walter Meiden (J un 30, 1999) Spanish language PDF, 1.9 MB http://rapidshare.com/files/43137911/Max_Euwe___Walter_Meiden_-_Maestro_contra_Amateur__Spanish_.pdf.html Bueno, yo lei este libro, para un jugador de ajedrez que viene empezando, este es el tipo de libro que le ayudará a mejorar, hace diferentes tratados: -Principio de desarrollo de piezas -Como evitar caer en una minuatura, o como elaborar una miniatura( partidas desicivas en 20 movimientos) -Celadas de apertura No me inmagino un jugador que empiece sin este libro, yo tengo un ELO mas de 2000, y aun veo las paritdas de vez en cuando, aunque no me sirven, es un libro que abona cuando imparta clases. Igor Stohl has selected 62 outstanding games from recent years and analysed them in painstaking depth. Here he presents his findings to chess enthusiasts, who will find the games entertaining and the annotations both instructive and illuminating. Stohl is an outstanding theoretical expert, so the opening phase of each game reads like a lesson in the key strategic aspects of the opening chosen, with a critical survey of modern trends. The middlegame is dissected and the critical decisions subjected to keen scrutiny - we are invited inside Stohl's laboratory to join him in the quest for the truth. The endgame phase, if reached, is handled with similar erudition, with insights into the grandmaster's approach to questions of technique. Following each game there is a discussion of the most important lessons to be learned. The expanded and revised new edition of this award-winning work features 12 new top-level games from the period 2000-2007 annotated in great depth - about 15% new material. There are also corrections to the existing notes and a revised Introduction. The Najdorf is one of the most sharp, dynamic, and popular openings that Black can play and is a firm favorite amongst the world's elite players, including world number one Garry Kasparov. From the Back Cover The Najdorf Sicilian is one of the most sharp, dynamic and popular openings that Black can play and is a firm favorite amongst the world’s elite players, including world number one Garry Kasparov. From very early on, Black unbalances the game to a reach a position in which one can play for the win without exceptional risk. The soundness of the Najdorf has never been seriously doubted, but some players can be put off by the ever-spiraling amount of theory amassed on this great opening. In Play the Najdorf: Scheveningen Style, however, Grandmaster and openings expert John Emms condenses this mountain to produce a workable black repertoire against all of White’s possible options. Emms concentrates on lines where Black adopts a very early ..e7-e6, thus establishing the well-known Scheveningen pawn structure. Play the Najdorf explains an opening championed by Garry Kasparov; is written by a renowned openings theoretician; covers all of White’s main replies. Книга Эммса о системе Найдорфа с ..е6 / 17610 kb Starting Out: Queen's Gambit Declined by Neil McDonald http://rapidshare.com/files/149360719/McDonald_Neil_-_Starting_Out_-_Queen_s_Gambit_Declined.djvu Review: There aren't that many books on the QGD -- Marovic and Polugayevsky are the only authors that come to mind off the top of my head, and they're both somewhat dated. So there's definitely a niche for a book on the subject. The book under review is a godsend for a 1.d4 player like myself who wants a clear explanation of ideas. For instance, in the classical set-up (...c6, ...Nbd7, ...Be7), what does one aim for in the tabiya position that arises after 12....e5? The book, as the author makes clear, doesn't cover every main line: it restricts itself to the Tartakower, the Lasker, the Exchange, the Classical, the Cambridge Springs, and the Bf4 lines. The author explains the ideas in each of these lines using games from both past and present. Every class player who plays or encounters the QGD will benefit from this, and even experts may pick up a few things. In my humble opinion, mastery of QGD and QGA postions is essential for every chessplayer, regardless of whether he plays them or not.To this extent, the book belongs on every player's shelf.

One of the most straight-forward replies is the Rubenstein Variation (4 e3), in which White ignores Black’s ‘threats’ and instead simply gets on with the process of developing his remaining pieces. This plan has found favor with many top players; indeed, Brain Games World Champion Vladimir Kramnik used it to defeat Garry Kasparov in just 25 moves in their 2000 match in London.

Chess Success: Planning After the Opening (Batsford Chess Books) by Neil McDonald ( 2007) http://rapidshare.com/files/157510213/McDonald__Neil_-_Chess_success-planning_after_the_opening__Bastford_2007_.pdf | 12155 KB Product Description It’s a fact that you can win some chess games just by playing one solid-looking move after another. But at the higher levels of competition, it’s not enough to play move by move: you need a plan. Chess Success is about making that plan. It shows, with fascinating examples taken from actual grandmaster games, why the solid-looking move—the “natural” move—can often be a subtle blunder. Learn to make a better move by first looking at the pawn structure of the game and understand how it’s “warped” by the positions of the pieces. Apart from this powerful new way of looking at chess strategy, the games with their unexpected twists are tremendously entertaining to replay. About the Author Neil McDonald is an International Grandmaster and a prolific chess author and trainer. Previous Batsford titles include The Art of Planning in Chess, Chess: The Art of Logical Thinking, The Sicilian Bb5 Revealed and The Benko Gambit Revealed. He lives in Gravesend, Kent 256 pages.

This may be an exaggeration, but even the remaining 1% still depends on tactics. When Martin Weteschnik started working as a trainer in his local chess club, he quickly realized that even the stronger club players had great weaknesses in their tactical play. He also discovered that simply asking them to solve a huge number of puzzles did not fix the problem. These players clearly needed a good book, but when Weteschnik looked for it he found nothing suitable, so he decided to write it himself. But Weteschnik was not completely satisfied with the book and decided to restructure and rewrite it completely. Teach Yourself Better Chess by William R. Hartston http://rapidshare.com/files/161566728/Bill_Hartston_-_Teach_Yourself_Better_Chess__pdf_.part1.rar | 13000 KB http://rapidshare.com/files/161566729/Bill_Hartston_-_Teach_Yourself_Better_Chess__pdf_.part2.rar | 11134 KB Product Description Teach Yourself Better Chess is for all those players who know how to play chess but would like to be better at the game. In 75 easy-to-follow lessons, the reader is guided towards an understanding of correct strategy and tactics. Each new concept is explained in depth, followed by an example of the idea in practice, usually taken from grandmaster play. It delves deeper into the principles of good chess, explaining how there is an underlying meta-principle concerning the deeper laws of co-operation between pieces. Teach Yourself Better Chess is designed to bridge the gap between beginner and master. It will be enjoyed by anyone who has read the same author's Teach Yourself Chess, and anyone else who wants to learn more about good chess. About the Author William Hartston is an experienced and well-known chess player and writes the daily chess column in The Independent. http://rapidshare.com/files/161559397/Russian_Chess_-_Learn_from_the_new_champions_-_B._Pandolfini.pdf | 7738 KB http://rapidshare.com/files/161557673/I.A._Horowitz___G._Mott-Smith_-_Point_Count_Chess__positional_strategy_.1960.pdf | 14454 KB Pawn Structure Chess by Andrew Soltis ( 1976) http://rapidshare.com/files/161556100/Soltis__Andrew_-_Pawn_Structure_Chess.1976.pdf | 9561 KB Product Description Some 250 years ago, the great Philidor wrote, "The pawns are the soul of chess." Although that statement is perhaps the most common cliche in the literature of the game, it is too often misunderstood. Pawns are usually considered weak because of their limited range of movement. But the pawns' restricted mobility is precisely what makes them so important strategically: they form a semi-permanent structure -- often called a "pawn skeleton" -- that establishes the territorial lines of the coming battle and thus the nature of the battle itself. Understanding how pawns affect strategy is the subject of this important book. In it you will learn: -- how to handle the characteristic pawn structure of each opening "family" and each major variation -- how to recognize the strengths and weaknesses of pawn chains -- when to exchange pawns in the center -- and when not to -- how to cramp your opponent's position and what to do if your opponent cramps yours -- how to create and exploit pawn "holes"...and much, much more, all copiously illustrated by complete games from actual play.

From the Back Cover The Grünfeld is an exciting and dynamic answer to 1 d4, and has become very popular at all levels of chess. A major reason for this is that it has been a long-time favourite of the World’s strongest-ever chess player, Garry Kasparov, who used it many times in his numerous World Championship battles. The Grünfeld very much relies on the principles of the hypermodern school of chess: Black allows White to erect an impressive-looking centre on the assumption that in the long run it could prove to be more of a liability than an asset. Play often becomes very complex and tactical, one of the reasons the Grünfeld appeals to ambitious players. Despite its attractions, some prospective Grünfeld players are discouraged by the necessity of needing to learn numerous different variations in such a complex opening. In Play the Grünfeld, however, opening expert Yelena Dembo circumvents this problem by producing a comprehensive and yet workable repertoire for Black, offering a solution against each of White’s tries, whether it’s a critical main line or a tricky sideline. After reading this book, you will have the required knowledge and confidence to begin playing the Grünfeld in your own games. *Written by a renowned Grünfeld expert *Covers all of White’s main tries *Reveals the tactical and positional ideas for both sides Yelena Dembo is a young International Master from Greece with numerous tournament successes to her name, including the bronze medal at the 2005 European Women’s Championship and one Grandmaster norm. She’s a renowned chess coach, who has taught students from over 30 countries. She’s also an experienced chess writer and a regular contributor to the quality publication Chess Informant. This is her first book for Everyman Chess.

Fundamental Chess Endings by Karsten Muller, Frank Lamprecht ( 2002) http://rapidshare.com/files/165358212/ML_FCE.rar | 8865 KB Product Description In a major event in chess publishing, two German endgame experts have produced a masterly one-volume encyclopedia that covers all major endgames. This is the first truly modern one-volume endgame encyclopedia. It makes full use of endgame tablebases; where previous authors could only make educated guesses, Muller and Lamprecht have often been able to state the definitive truth, or get much closer to it. New time-controls involve competitive games being played to finish in one session, so it is especially important that chess players understand the key endgame principles this book provides comprehensive assistance for any players wishing to study the endgame. In addition to a feast of detailed analysis, the authors emphasize the practical side of endgame play, describing rules of thumb, principles and thinking methods. "Fundamental Chess Endings" is both the ideal endgame reference work, and a book that can profitably and enjoyably be read from start to finish. About the Author Karsten Muller is a young grandmaster from Germany, who competes regularly in the Bundesliga and in international events. He finished third in the German Championship in 1996, and was runner-up in 1997. He is a noted authority on both practical and theoretical endgames. The reason is easy to understand: from the very first move Black unbalances the position and can play for a win without needing to take unjustified risks. This is particularly the case with the Open Sicilians, where Black can take comfort in the fact that his superior pawn structure ensures control of the centre and excellent long term chances. Faced this with type of problem, along with the fact that many Open Sicilians carry with them a massive build-up of opening theory, it’s unsurprising that many White players prefer to avoid the Open Sicilian altogether, preferring one of the many ‘Anti-Sicilians’ lines on offer. About the Author International Master Gary Lane is one of the UK's most prolific chess writers. An openings expert, he has been awarded the Chess Journalist of America award for Best Analysis, Opening. He is an Australian Chess Champion and a popular coach for English (junior) and Australian teams. He lives in Paignton, Devon. Paperback: 192 pages Publisher: Batsford. Power Chess With Pieces: The Ultimate Guide to the Bishop Pair & Strong Knights (New in Chess) (Paperback) by Jan Timman ( July 25, 2004) http://rapidshare.com/files/210959675/Timman-Power_chess_with_pieces.rar | 14055 KB Review "A collection of extremely well annotated games." -- ChessToday "Instructive for the serious player and a pleasure to read." -- Bill Kelleher, ChessCafe "This book should be savored, and time spent to learn the many lessons. Fantastically well annotated games, this collection is really hard to beat." -- David Surratt, ChessVille "Where Garry Kasparov likes to hide behind thick trees with variations, Timman always makes sure that the reader fully understands why the game develops the way it does." -- Harald Keilhack, Schach Magazine Product Description According to an Indian saying, the game of chess is a sea in which a mosquito can drink and an elephant can bathe. To which many chess players would surely like to add: ‘And in which it’s very easy to drown in the middle game!’ In contrast to the opening or the endgame, the middle game seems to offer little in the way of concrete starting-points for methodical study. In Power Chess with Pieces former world championship candidate Jan Timman shows the way through the fascinating maze of the middle game. What, after all, is the point of getting an advantage in the opening if you don’t know how to exploit this advantage? On the basis of countless examples encountered in his rich chess career, Jan Timman deals with themes like ‘strong knight against bishop’ and the ‘dominant bishop pair’. How is one to proceed when one emerges from the opening with a strong knight and one’s opponent is stuck with a bad bishop? And is the bishop pair really as strong as they say? And how can one put this asset to maximum use? Or, conversely, how can one contain the damage if the roles are reversed? With his lucid style and practical approach, Timman follows in the footsteps of his teachers Max Euwe and Mikhail Botvinnik. Power Chess with Pieces is a book that will delight and instruct enthusiastic beginner and seasoned club player alike. Paperback: 228 pages Publisher: New In Chess.

Dynamic Pawn Play in Chess (Paperback) by Drazen Marovic ( October 1, 2001) http://rapidshare.com/files/212183211/Marovic-Dynamic_pawn_play_in_chess.rar | 13215 KB Review Lovers of romantic play will enjoy the chapter on the open center... -- GM Lubosh Kavalek, WASHINGTON POST Product Description This book tackles fundamental questions such as: 'How should pawns be used to fight for the centre?' and 'How does the central pawn formation affect planning for both sides?' These issues are central to understanding chess. Marovic discusses central pawn-structures and their impact on play both in the centre and on the wings. He begins by surveying how the pawn's role in controlling the centre has been developed over the last 150 years, and how this has led to the refinement of concepts such as the 'dynamic' backward pawn and the positional exchange sacrifice. The bulk of the book is devoted to discussions of the main type of centre: Open Centre; Closed/Blocked Centre; Fixed Centre; and in particular the Mobile/Dynamic Centre. PLAY THE SEMISLAV By D. Vigori Quality Chess, 2008 г. The Slav defense has always been a popular opening for Black, dating back to the Alekhine-Bogoljubow and Alekhine-Euwe matches. However, over the last several years the Semi-Slav has replaced it as the opening of choice amongst the world’s top players. I myself have been playing various variations of the Slav for the past 19 years. Originally, like a lot of beginners, I started with the mainline Slav. However, for some reason the exchange variation would sometimes give me trouble. After trying the a6 Slav for a brief period, I ended up playing the Semi-Slav a few years ago and have been very pleased with it. The interesting thing is you would think that with Black playing pawns to both c6 and e6 and blocking in his light squared bishop, there wouldn’t be that much theory to know. I mean, isn’t Black sort of playing a Colle in reverse? The answer is no—the Semi-Slav is nothing like the Colle. While the Colle is a pretty easy opening to play (I play it), the number of variations in the Semi-Slav is quite large and the lines often run past 20 moves. Additionally, while the Colle is usually a setup to play for a kingside attack, in the Semi-Slav, Black’s play is usually on the queenside (c5 break) or center (e5 break). Chris Baker - A Startling Chess Opening Repertoire (1998).djvu Everyman Chess, reprinted in
